It annoyed me a little that this felt like a "filler" episode between the main story arc action, but otherwise this was just a fantastic episode.

Having read a few sneak peaks during the week, I had not quite expected the subtlety afforded to the portrayal of mental illness. By this, I don't mean that it wasn't obvious or that I had expected lots of prancing about and dealing with it, but that it was handled well. I genuinely felt for Vincent and his fears about people leaving him, his mood swings, his rejection. I felt for the Doctor, who was so uncomfortable and wanting to help. And Amy, who couldn't quite understand that he couldn't just "be fixed" by their presence. It felt very real.

Except for that monster, of course, who was not so real but VERY COOL. A little reminiscent of the Thestrals in Harry Potter, perhaps? I liked the flaily helplessness of the Doctor around this monster - a reflection of his helplessness around Vincent, I think.

All in all, very layered, very good.

Not to mention, "invisible monster" = depression?

I loved everything about it so so much, I have to say.
