I had difficulty writing the reunion and I think it shows, mostly because I find it difficult to believe that things would really work out like that after so long.

I think the reason for Actaeon and Dora being more significant characters is that this is the point of the story, that Sirius wasn't there when Remus needed him. After all, the title is "Thriving Without You". It's the absence of a lead character that I think is something that I really loved writing.
