Torchwood: the aftermath

Honestly, those were the most depressing 5 hours of television I've ever watched.

Dear BBC,

What was the point? Almost nowhere was there anything like the true Torchwood we came to know and love. I mean, seriously, the increase in Gwen support is a clear indication of this.

Really, you took the "Doctor Who for adults" notion - I got vibes of the Master's earth-ending and Martha/Gwen parallels - and you made it so very dark, and you tried to rid the world of 10% of its children. You made it seem real. Torchwood felt REAL and it hurt.

Ianto is dead. A fandom is in mourning. Jack is an evil bastard and a fandom is in shock. Gwen was brilliant and, though I can't believe I'm actually saying it, the only thing that came even close to redeeming this show.

No love, not quite hate, nearly anger, almost pity, mostly annoyance and sadness,
Kitty

Gwen was actually kind of awesome. I think my whole world has been turned on its head.

Hah, made me laugh...although of course, I am still in a deep fucking depression about all this regardless.

And why the hell inflict such insistent character murder on Jack? I mean, we all know he has a dark side but why not treat us to more of the hilarious John Hart-type dark side? THAT is what people who watch Torchwood want. THAT is what we mean when we want "Doctor Who for adults". Not this soul-killing shit. And I don't even want to talk about the Ianto/Dad/Debenhams thing because it still makes me cry.

Ugh.
